The one-hour trap
BaZi reads the sun's real position at the moment you were born — not the clock. In Singapore, the clock and the sky are more than a little apart.
Singapore only adopted UTC+8 in 1982 — before that it ran on UTC+7:30. Same clock reading as Beijing, but that's an administrative choice, not an astronomical fact.
UTC+8 is anchored at 120°E. Singapore sits ~16° west, so the sun reaches due south about an hour later.
An hour is enough to cross into the next two-hour branch, replacing the entire hour pillar — and the reading of wealth, career and later life with it.

The clock reads the same — both UTC+8. But BaZi uses the sun's real position: Singapore sits at 103.8°E, ~16° west of the UTC+8 anchor (120°E), so true solar time is ~65 minutes behind the clock. Same clock reading does not mean the same chart.
No. Just enter the clock time on your birth certificate and pick your birth city — ShunShi corrects to local true solar time and produces the right hour pillar. Manual conversion tends to introduce errors.
Your birthplace. BaZi is fixed to the sky at the moment of birth, independent of where you live now. Pick your birth city from the list (KL, Penang, Johor Bahru are all corrected) and the system uses that longitude.
City level is enough. Solar-time correction depends on longitude, and differences within one city barely affect the hour pillar — selecting the city is sufficient.
It's restored to the time zone in force back then. Singapore only switched to UTC+8 on 1 Jan 1982; before that it ran on UTC+7:30 (half an hour slower). The time on your birth certificate is that era's official clock time. ShunShi automatically restores the correct historical time zone by birth year, then applies true-solar-time correction — so an elder's hour pillar isn't thrown off wholesale.
